Terms & Protocol

Welcome to the New York Watchmaker secure diagnostic pipeline. By initializing our intake protocol, you agree to the following standards of service and horological preservation. These terms ensure the protection of both your asset and our proprietary restoration methods.

1. Preliminary Assessment

The Horological Assessment & Secure Intake Protocol is a non-binding diagnostic service. Any estimates provided via digital communication are provisional. A binding "Master Estimate" will only be issued following a physical, bench-level inspection of the caliber and case by our master watchmaker.

2. Custody & Logistics

New York Watchmaker operates as an elite intake portal. We assume no liability for assets dispatched without a verified Service Authorization & Case ID generated through our secure intake protocol. Timepieces utilizing our proprietary insured logistics are protected up to the Declared Valuation established during the digital assessment. For high-complication assets exceeding a $50,000 valuation, we initiate specialized Armored Transport Protocols to ensure point-to-point security. Our role is to curate the secure transition of your timepiece to the specific artisan atelier best suited for your caliber’s unique requirements.

3. Diagnostic Inspection Fee

A non-refundable Diagnostic Fee covers the technical labor required for movement analysis, waterproofing tests, and documentation. This fee is credited 100% toward the final cost of approved restorations. If service is declined, this fee covers the return shipping and insurance.

4. Parts & Authenticity

We prioritize Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts to preserve investment value. We do not service timepieces confirmed to be counterfeit. If OEM parts are unavailable for vintage calibers, you will be consulted before any substitutions (such as custom-fabricated components) occur.

5. Service Warranty

Our work is backed by a 24-month warranty on full movement overhauls, covering chronometric performance and water resistance. This warranty is voided by impact damage, unauthorized third-party intervention, or user negligence (e.g., operating pushers underwater). Partial repairs carry a 12-month limited warranty on specific work performed.

6. Unclaimed Property

In adherence to New York State law, any timepiece left in our custody for more than 180 days after service completion notification—without payment or communication—may be subject to a mechanic’s lien to recover service costs.

7. Limitation of Liability

While we operate with Swiss-grade infrastructure, our liability for any single item is strictly limited to the replacement value of the item or the cost of repair, whichever is lower. We are not liable for sentimental value, loss of use, or consequential damages arising from service delays.
